Planning commission approves plan‑center sign and forwards Rosecrest amendment to council

The Herriman Planning Commission unanimously approved a conditional-use permit for a plan-center sign at the Daring development and recommended the Rosecrest fourth amendment to the city council at its Oct. 2 meeting.
Sheldon (planning staff) presented the sign request for the Daring development near 67 Northwest and Herriman Boulevard. "The sign they're proposing is 16 feet tall, 12 feet wide…It's 192 square feet per ordinance," Sheldon said, adding the on-site location complied with city ordinance while an off-site location would require council approval and a rezone of a city-owned sliver from A-1-43 to C-2.
Commissioner Adam moved to approve item 4.1 with staff's conditions; Heather seconded and the commission took a roll-call vote that passed unanimously. Later, the commission reviewed the Rosecrest fourth amendment (item 5.1). Michael (planning staff) explained the amendment reduces the Rosecrest boundary and changes open-space accounting; after brief questions from commissioners the commission moved and unanimously recommended approval of the Rosecrest amendment to city council with two recommendations recorded in the staff report.
Both actions are advisory to the city council; council will take final action at a later date. Staff was asked to ensure the minutes and packet exhibits are consistent when the items proceed to the council docket.
