City manager report: hydrant metering, leaf pickup, early voting dates and seasonal events announced

During the city manager's report, staff outlined several operational and community updates affecting residents and contractors.
Community development announced a new policy and fees for use of water from public fire hydrants: contractors will be charged an upfront tap fee to cover meter and backflow-preventer installation, and hydrant usage will be metered so contractors pay for actual water usage.
Streets staff reminded residents that the city's sanitation contractor will pick up leaves and compost at the curb on regular trash days through Dec. 6, 2024, and urged residents not to rake or blow leaves into the street.
Election-related notices: early in-person voting was announced to begin Saturday, Oct. 26, at City Hall and continue for nine consecutive days (including weekends) through Sunday, Nov. 3. The last day for the clerk's office to mail an absentee ballot to a voter is Friday, Nov. 1; all ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Nov. 5 to be counted.
Recreation and cultural announcements included a free Detroit Institute of Arts bus trip for seniors (Nov. 15), the Mount Clemens local-treasure award nomination process (deadline Dec. 16, 2024), the Mount Clemens Beautification Committee skeleton contest (Oct. 11–31), and the seventh annual Tinsel Tour (Dec. 8–Jan. 2). The city highlighted opportunities to register or sponsor events via mountclemens.gov.
