Raytown school board approves policy updates, EverDriven amendment and records multiple donations

The Raytown Quality School District Board of Education approved several policy updates, accepted an amendment from a contracted vendor and recorded a series of community donations at its Sept. 8 meeting.

A motion to approve a set of district policies — including IGVD, EHBA (student use of personal electronic devices), IGBI (homeschooling and other educational options), IGCDA (full-time virtual courses), IGD (district extracurricular activities), IGDAA (resident participant involvement) and JFCD (student use of personal communication devices) — passed after board members voted in favor. The chair announced the motion carried.

The board also approved Amendment 4 from EverDriven Technologies LLC during new business after a motion and a second. The motion was moved by a board member and seconded by another board member; board members voted to approve and the chair declared the motion passed.

The board approved the consent agenda. During that item the chair read a list of donations accepted for district schools: 10 Kwik Trip $10 gift cards totaling $100 to Southwood Elementary; 63 desks and matching chairs valued at $4,100 donated to West Ridge Elementary; food and refreshments valued at $328 from Apple Market to Northwood School; 561 backpacks with school supplies for kindergartners valued at $14,600 from Graceway to Raytown elementary schools; equipment donations of $1,000 to the Raytown South girls golf team; and theater support gifts totaling $2,150 to Raytown South’s theater program, among others. "We would like to thank you guys for all your donations," the chair said as the list was read.

Several motions were seconded and recorded on the meeting record; roll-call style verbal affirmations ("yes") by the superintendent and several named board members were heard before the chair announced each motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 7:34 p.m.
