Coconino County proclaims March for developmental disabilities, women’s history and Red Cross month

Human Resources Director Christa Sadillo introduced Truman Shoaf, program director for High Country Adaptive Sports, who read the board’s proclamation designating March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and described a series of county “lunch and learn” events. Supervisor Tammy Ontiveras moved the proclamation and the board approved it without dissent.
Jenny Buckinghorst read a proclamation designating March as Women’s History Month, and board members — including Supervisor Jeronimo Vasquez — praised the contributions of women across county departments and the broader community. The board voted unanimously to adopt the proclamation.
Henning Larson, representing the American Red Cross of Northern Arizona, read a proclamation declaring March Red Cross Month and highlighted upcoming trainings, blood drives and a May resiliency conference. The board adopted that proclamation by unanimous voice vote as well.
The proclamations are ceremonial but are intended to direct attention and county resources — such as county staff time and SharePoint calendar notices — toward related events and community outreach during March.
