John Henry, superintendent, opened the meeting by inviting students being recognized to stand and asking the audience to applaud their work. “Super, super sharp, smart kids that we have here in Wyoming County,” he said, thanking families and school staff for supporting the students.
The presentation that followed listed first-place winners across county science fair divisions and subject categories. Mr. Field read names and schools for dozens of awards, including Baileysville’s Mia Walker (Division 1) and Wyoming East’s China Lambert (Division 3, biomedical and health sciences). The board also heard winners in chemistry, engineering, plant sciences, environmental sciences and other categories across divisions 1–3.
The meeting then recognized Math Field Day champions by grade: 4th-grade champion Connor Hood of Glenfort; 7th-grade champion Jackson Vance of Balesville; 8th-grade champion Brandon Gentry of Herndon; 9th-grade champion Jesse Mullins of Wyoming East; and upper-grade winners from Westside. The presenters noted that several of these students competed at regional events the prior weekend and that regional results would be available soon.
Organizers concluded the recognition portion with congratulations, an offer for family photos with students and board members, and a token program that permits winners to receive a free book from a hallway book machine.
The board did not take formal action on awards during the meeting; the recognition was ceremonial. The transcript lists the full set of winners read aloud at the meeting.
