The Meridian School District board approved a contract with Iverson Artworks to repair the septic/drain field at NHS, district staff said. The contract amount is $308,000 and the district’s budget for the project is $500,000; staff said the budgeted funding comes from an OSPI grant, meaning local district funds are not expected to be used for the work. "Contract amount is 308,000, and our budget for it is 500,000," Staff member said.
Staff asked the board to approve the contract so that neighbors and contractors could begin construction promptly. A board member asked whether the repaired area—the football-field-adjacent space—could be repurposed as sand/beach courts to generate tournament revenue; the member described tournaments that charge fees and develop player skills. Staff said the area under discussion is slated to be the practice and JV soccer field and that another adjacent area is reserved for the new district office, but invited further discussion.
Chair called for a motion to adopt the drain-field repair contract. A board member moved, another seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote. With the approval, staff said work could begin under the contract; the board adjourned the meeting afterward.
