Commission gives informal go‑ahead to use Prop 1 funds for fairgrounds road repairs

County staff asked the Weber County Commission on March 2 for permission to use Prop 1 resources to repair Harrisville Road through the fairgrounds, and commissioners gave an informal go‑ahead to move forward with detailed cost work and scheduling.

Todd, the staff presenter, described sections of the road that have "fairly major spidering" and suggested local in‑house patching followed by an overlay rather than a full reconstruction. He said staff would cap and patch the worst areas and then perform an end‑to‑end overlay and restriping.

"So I went and said, is there a chance this would be prop 1?" Todd asked the commission, describing prior chip‑seal patches and the road’s increased traffic loads. Commissioners and operations staff said they supported doing the work in‑house and coordinating construction with upcoming event schedules at the fairgrounds.

Commissioners instructed staff to prepare a cost estimate and timing; staff said preliminary work would start with localized patching and proceed to an overlay when schedules permit.
