Brunswick County has revised its stormwater requirements to add the 100-year peak-discharge standard for certain residential subdivisions and commercial developments, Sunset Beach planning staff told the Planning Board on Feb. 19.
The change, adopted by the county commissioners Jan. 20, requires applicants to design for the 1-, 10-, 25- and now 100-year storm events. Staff cited the county table showing a 100-year, 24-hour rainfall of roughly 11.6 inches in the townarea, up from about 8.52 inches used for the 25-year standard — a roughly 36% increase in…
