Canton Township approves $1.17 million Stryker purchase, training and several site-plan and equipment agreements

The board waived bidding to approve a sole-source Stryker purchase of emergency-care equipment for $1,166,420, authorized a $17,500 tactical-training contract, and approved site-plan amendments and purchase orders for local development and technology needs.
The Canton Township Board of Trustees approved a set of procurement and development items during the meeting, including a sole-source, no-bid purchase from Stryker for emergency-care products and preventative maintenance totaling $1,166,420.
Canton Fire Department leadership said the procurement will replace end-of-service equipment in ambulances, upgrade monitors and include seven years of warranty/maintenance coverage. Director Stockline explained negotiations reduced an earlier estimate from close to $2 million and noted the department plans to sign before the vendor’s Oct. 1 price increase while purchasing the equipment in the next fiscal year.
The board also waived bidding to approve a one-year tactical-performance training agreement with McPherson Sun LLC for an amount not to exceed $17,500, intended as part of the health-and-wellness program for firefighters.
On planning and infrastructure, the board approved a reimbursement agreement for the Lotts Road Sewer District pump station that allocates developer shares and reimburses the township sewer fund as additional district areas are built. The board approved site-plan amendments including Rusty Nail Lounge’s proposal for outdoor dining and stormwater improvements, and the Muslim Community of Western Suburbs’ (MCWS) addition of a 41,558-square-foot field house; staff noted part of the proposed stormwater pond is illustrated on township-owned vacant land and that a future board action will be required for an easement.
The board also approved a purchase order to CDW Government not to exceed $23,000 for telecommunications and technology for the Cherry Hill Village factory building renovation.
Each of these items passed by voice vote after staff presentations and brief trustee discussion.
