District previews possible April 2025 referendum, cites $3 million annual shortfall

He asked the committee to consider the upcoming CISA 10 study of elementary schools and reminded members that the district will receive a facility recommendation from the elementary facility plan task force in December.
Fugue shared a community-survey result from earlier in the year showing roughly 2,000 respondents and about 60% support for a $3,000,000 operational referendum. He said the district's five-year forecast shows a recurring budget deficit that quickly reaches about $3,000,000. Fugue highlighted key dates: task force recommendation Dec. 9; a CISA 10 presentation Dec. 16; a potential board decision in mid-January and a referendum-deadline of Jan. 25, 2025 if the board chooses to proceed.
Board members advised keeping community messaging simple and clear about the outcomes of any referendum, and Fugue proposed a board workshop the week of Jan. 6 to prepare messaging and decisions.
