The Planning & Development Board on Sept. 10 approved the design and site plan for a six‑story, 48‑unit residential project known as Hollywood Boomerang at 901 South Ocean Drive.
Cameron Palmer, principal planner, told the board the proposal is code‑compliant with the BRT‑25R zoning district and includes 77 parking spaces, pedestrian‑oriented plaza areas and undulating glass balconies. "The applicant has provided areas that blur the lines between public and private spaces, providing planters, seating and meandering pathways," Palmer said.
Applicant Patrick Giannini said the design breaks the mass into two towers to reduce scale, added landscaping and amenity deck spaces and chose materials and a palette appropriate for the beach environment. Board members praised the project's public‑realm features and voted unanimously to approve design and site plan.
Next steps: The applicant will proceed to permitting and continue coordination with city staff and the CRA on streetscape transitions and undergrounding conditions specified as a permit stage requirement.
