Beach Park board approves $1.44 million street contract, related engineering and landscaping agreements

The Beach Park Village Board on a unanimous roll call approved a $1,444,177 bid from Payne & Dolan Inc. for the village's 2026 Motor Fuel Tax street resurfacing project and separately authorized associated engineering and landscaping contracts.

The board accepted the Payne & Dolan bid after Committee member (Speaker 2) read the motion and the chair seconded. Chair noted the bid was ‘‘below the engineer's estimate of probable cost by, about $400,000 which is no small change.’’ The bid was approved by roll call.

The board also approved a construction engineering services agreement with Baxter & Woodman for the same MFT project not to exceed $177,445 and accepted a 2026 parks landscaping maintenance contract with Barge Landscaping Contractors for $9,120. Committee materials presented at the meeting said the landscaping amount was a small increase over the prior year and that services had been satisfactory.

Separately, the board moved and approved an ordinance vacating and selling a segment of the Howard Street right‑of‑way adjacent to 238/237 North Wilson for $11,767.78. That motion was presented, seconded and passed on roll call.

The board's approvals followed public‑works committee review; members said the engineering and bid packages had been recommended by the committee. No amendments to the bids or contracts were offered during discussion. The board carried the measures on roll calls recorded during the meeting.

Next steps: the village will execute the contracts and proceed with project scheduling under the MFT program; contract start dates and construction timelines were not specified at the meeting.
