The Nashville School District board approved a slate of contracts and procurement items during its April meeting, including a White River E-rate agreement, a one-year renewal with food-service provider Elior, and a summer floor-maintenance contract.
Superintendent Doug Graham explained the E-rate program (the state picks up roughly 80% of eligible costs and the district covers about 20%) and recommended entering a contract with White River Services and Solutions for $323,221; Graham said the district’s 20% share will be approximately $64,644. A motion to accept the White River bid passed 5-0.
The board also approved renewal of Elior for the fifth year of its five-year relationship with the district; Graham said the district has been satisfied with Elior’s performance and will run a full bid process when the five-year contract ends.
On facilities work, Graham recommended accepting a bid from Boom Boom Shine for $90,253.75 to perform the district’s summer floor project; he noted the company owner is a district employee, so the contract is contingent on state approval from the commissioner of education (Mr. Oliva). The board approved the summer contract by unanimous vote.
Graham said the board will table the purchase of a replacement maintenance truck this month and instead spend about $5,100 to repair the district’s current truck, which has over 214,000 miles.
