Bethel Local board approves consent agenda, creates Troy Foundation grant account and confirms personnel changes

At its meeting, the Bethel Local board approved the consent agenda and a set of personnel recommendations including a replacement hire for a fifth-grade special-education position, a bus-driver contract adjustment and several unpaid leaves.

The business official asked the board to approve creation of a new account (O199166) to track a Troy Foundation grant for an elementary garden project. “We did receive 1000 dollars, and I'm creating a new account for that,” the clerk/business official said when presenting the item.

The board confirmed substitute hires and an updated ESE substitute list and approved certified personnel actions as presented. Several members asked clarifying questions about return dates and bus-driver duties before the motions were seconded and passed by roll call.

The superintendent also requested approval for transportation arrangements related to an overnight student trip to Washington, D.C., which the board discussed as a school-sponsored event to ensure coverage and proper compensation for chaperones and contracted vendors. The board discussed medication-use policy updates at first reading and did not adopt policy changes at the meeting.

Motions on consent and personnel items were moved and seconded on the record and members responded affirmatively in roll call. No contested votes were recorded in the transcript.
