Tim Roberts, Mansfield’s tourism manager, told the City Council on Jan. 12 that the city is executing an aggressive marketing campaign tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the national America 250 celebration. Roberts said targeted ads produced about 340,000 international impressions in a recent campaign and that the visit Mansfield website recorded more than 10,000 international visits in December, accounting for a large share of traffic.
Roberts said Mansfield has been working closely with regional partners — including North Texas SC, Rev Entertainment and field station 63 — and coordinating internally with emergency management, police, fire and traffic teams to prepare for an influx of visitors. The city also secured usage rights for America 250 and Texas 250 logos so departments can brand events during the year.
On economic impact, Roberts said base‑camp cities frequently see incremental visitor spending per team and estimated a range commonly discussed for base camps of roughly $15–40 million in additional spending, while noting broader regional forecasts for the Dallas area exceed $1 billion. "We are definitely looking at being well within that 15 to 40,000,000 easy," he said.
Council members asked follow‑up questions about fiscal impact, and Roberts said the city expects both direct and regional spending benefits but that exact local totals will vary depending on accommodations, team needs and visitor behavior. The council received the report; no vote was required.
