Hall County directs facilities staff to study moving probation offices to federal building

The Hall County Board instructed staff to investigate whether adult probation offices could move from 207 North Pine into the federal building using existing Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) plans.
Mark Comacher, Chief Probation Officer for District 9 (Hall and Buffalo counties), reported phases 1 and 2 of a three-phase relocation plan were complete and described phase 3 as consolidating adult probation staff in the federal building. He requested modest renovations: a reception area and three or four meeting rooms for secure client meetings.
A commissioner moved to direct the facilities director to review revised DHHS architectural plans and cost estimates to determine feasibility. The motion was seconded and carried with seven yes votes. Commissioners asked staff to be mindful of taxpayer funds and to use existing plans where possible.
The board did not approve construction funding at this meeting; it authorized an investigative review and asked staff to return with estimated costs and a recommendation.
