The committee proposed weekend work sessions — tentatively Nov. 15–16 and Nov. 22–23 — to divide the wall into squares and allow multiple volunteer artists to work simultaneously. The group discussed recruiting local artists and volunteers and assigning a lead coordinator for the project.
S4 said she had contacted a Sherwin-Williams manager who offered to donate paint; members also discussed approaching Home Depot and Walmart for leftover or donated paint. “We’re gonna get them [paint], and then we’re gonna get some donated,” the moderator said, noting some materials would come from sponsors and some from city supplies.
Organizers also discussed logistics: pressure-washing and surface preparation, tent and shade needs, work tables, and the possibility of printing a permanent center panel (a welcome sign) rather than painting every element by hand. The city’s starter paint would cover some costs, with volunteer donations expected to fill gaps.
Members agreed to present a final design and implementation plan to the city council and to identify a single staff contact and an artist lead who will coordinate volunteers and city-supplied resources.
Next steps include confirming the lead artist, finalizing a design that can be presented to the council, and securing donated paint and equipment before the November dates.
