The committee chair and officers will serve as the group’s primary points of contact with city staff and the council liaison, but members stressed the CAC’s advisory role. “We could vote on you and then, then it has to be approved by council. Actually, we have no authority whatsoever. We just give recommendations and then they'd give bridal,” said the member who moderated the meeting, describing the CAC’s procedural limits.
Members also discussed logistics for CAC business, including the requirement that formal recommendations be submitted in writing and routed through the city liaison. Attendees were reminded to email Ashley Donald to express interest in committee positions or to submit materials for council consideration.
The committee moved on from the procedural items to plan community outreach and project work, including a mural at Olsner Park and a veterans event scheduled for Nov. 11.
