He said the trailer and associated software were quoted at about $13,456 and that the program is a reimbursement grant that typically requires a roughly 10% match; in-kind staff time can count toward the match. The sheriff emphasized the office would only purchase equipment after receiving grant approval.
The committee voted to allow the sheriff's office to apply for the equipment grant; the chair and vice chair confirmed the committee would be notified before any purchase and that reimbursement timing could mean the county's line item would be replenished in a later budget cycle. The motion passed by voice vote with one member recorded as opposed.
