York County appoints Luke Gruber to planning and zoning committee for three-year term

The York County Board of Commissioners appointed Luke Gruber (who identified his full name as Lucas Gruber) to the county planning and zoning committee for a three-year term on Oct. 31.
Chair introduced Gruber and asked him to provide his name and address for the record; Gruber said he sought appointment "strictly out of wanting to be involved in the community" and described having navigated a conditional-use permitting process for his new home. Commissioner Daniel (speaker 4) moved to appoint Gruber, citing the challenge of finding people willing to serve and the approaching need to revise the county comprehensive plan; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call.
During questions, commissioners asked whether Gruber had personal or career ties that might present conflicts. Gruber said he had no current ties to solar developers and that his employer had no involvement in the solar field; he additionally said any prior contact with a former general manager at Perennial occurred before the speaker’s current role and that he had not had contact since that manager left.
Commissioners welcomed younger residents’ participation and noted that planning and zoning decisions will be important as the county updates its comprehensive plan. The board confirmed the appointment by roll call and thanked Gruber for his willingness to serve.
