County Attorney Matt Gibson (speaker 11) outlined the upset-bid process and noted advertising in the Daily Reflector; the board moved to accept the highest bid and voted to approve the sale.
Later in the meeting, Matt Gibson reported a previously settled case captioned Ronald Ray Smith, 1st Pitt County, stating the matter was settled Sept. 27, 2023, for $150,000 to release all claims. He told the board the settlement did not expend additional county funds because the county had already met its $50,000 deductible under its insurance arrangement.
The motions to accept the offer and to enter minutes and adjourn were moved, seconded and approved as recorded in the meeting.
