The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District's January update celebrated a series of student arts and music accomplishments.
Dr. Dana Monog thanked Cromry Middle School and Middleton High School choirs for a Jan. 7 concert at the district services center that included a Brazilian folk selection and a Latin-language piece. She thanked choir directors Jason Cree and Jamie Pitt and accompanist Sarah Stein for leading the performances.
Middleton High School students also participated in the sixth annual concerto/aria competition on Jan. 13, where singers and instrumentalists auditioned for judges; winners will advance to a showcase next month. The high school hosted a jazz cabaret at the Performing Arts Center on Jan. 16 that featured all high school jazz bands and a guest school jazz band.
MHS opened the Project Joy art gallery on Jan. 8 to feature work from advanced art students associated with the Memory Project and the Bridal Project; Monog said the Bridal Project's work will be donated to local cancer units. In addition, Dr. Monog congratulated senior Ava Greenberg for advancing to the finale of the Broadway World Next on Stage competition in New York City after submitting weekly performance videos and participating in a live finale on Jan. 18.
The district encouraged families and the community to view student performances and the art gallery during school hours this month.
