Lewisville unveils rotating sculpture garden program and April 12 opening reception

Helvey said the first year would include a mix of one‑ and two‑year loans: three pieces will be placed for one year (artists paid $1,500) and three will be placed for two years (artists paid $2,000). The program will also run a patrons' "best in show" vote during the first three months of each exhibition; winners may receive an additional $500 and additional promotion. Artists named for the inaugural display include Gigi Miller (Flora de Alegria), Jessica Bell (Dream), Elizabeth Femshee (Coral Stardust), Pascal Pryor (Waterfall 2), Fred Rossett (Grace in Stainless) and Russ Connell (Palm Springs Modern). Helvey said a backup work from Art Garcia will be available if schedule changes require a substitution.
Council members praised the selection and asked about labeling and image usage; Helvey said the city may use photos in promotional materials and will provide permanent and changeable labels at the site plus a rack card each year to explain the works and artists. The city will try to time new installations with the annual Colorpalooza event and will aim to refresh parts of each exhibition every April.
Next steps: staff will confirm logistics, finalize loan agreements and producers, and produce promotional materials for the April opening.
