Board adopts revised Policy 506 on student welfare, including naloxone and communicable-disease updates

Jill Coyle presented proposed amendments to Policy 506 (Student Welfare) at the Sept. 23 meeting. She said the changes were relatively minor and focused on sections covering management of communicable diseases, relocation/placement of naloxone in schools, and the addition of references to Minnesota’s free school meals program. The administration noted the changes had been discussed at the Sept. 9 meeting and asked the board for approval.
The board held a second reading; with no public or board questions, the board approved the proposed changes on a roll-call vote.
What’s next: staff will implement the policy revisions and update policy materials; related policy 406 (containing the older mission statement) will be presented later for further revisions.
