Committee approves $14,000 accessibility grant for Nineteenth Judicial Circuit law library

The Lake County committee voted to approve a joint resolution authorizing a $14,000 emergency appropriation with offsetting revenue to support the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit’s disability and accessibility program.
Lisa Wolf, director of finance for the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit, said the award is the second year of the grant and will continue CART services, court reporter and transcript fees and fund an automatic door opener for the law library. "We've estimated $7,000 for it," Wolf said, adding that if bids exceed that estimate the office can reallocate funds from reporter fees.
Committee members asked whether the law library would remain in its current location. Karl (staff member), who addressed facilities questions, said any move of the law library would likely be more than five years away, which means the modification would be in use for many years before any potential relocation.
The committee moved and seconded the resolution; the motion carried on a voice vote with no recorded opposition. The appropriation was described in committee as fully covered by the grant award; Wolf said the program will continue CART and accessibility services begun in the previous grant year.
The committee did not request further study; there were no public comments on the item. The committee moved on to subsequent agenda items following the vote.
