Board accepts $50,000 Supreme Court technology grant for 19th Judicial Circuit

The Lake County board voted March 3 to accept a $50,000 court technology modernization award from the Supreme Court of Illinois and approved an emergency appropriation to use the funds in the 19th Judicial Circuit.
Carl Waller and Lisa Wolf (director of finance for the 19th) described planned uses: replacing the paging system in a courtroom wing, providing Surface tablets for pretrial services to replace clipboards and paper, upgrading educational computers in a juvenile detention facility and improving courtroom interpreter audio equipment.
Lisa Wolf said the Surface tablets were not already on a replacement schedule and the award provides an opportunity to address high‑priority equipment needs. A board member asked whether the tablets had been on a planned replacement list; Wolf replied they had not and that the office is prioritizing highest needs.
The board voted to accept the award and approve the emergency appropriation.
The resolution (agenda item 8.8) authorizes the county to accept the $50,000 award and appropriate funds for the specified equipment purchases for the 19th Judicial Circuit.
