Staff said Mike had met with the vendor (identified as Synthetic Turf, based in Peatone) and would continue negotiations to reduce the cost. Board members discussed alternatives such as rubber mulch (maintenance concerns) and the practical limits of soliciting additional bids for a niche market.
Separately, staff presented options for resurfacing the Square, including stamped asphalt or stamped concrete. Members noted heavy public use increases wear and that concrete is likely more durable. Ideas included limiting stamping to the Square itself, staining, or using mobile CNC etching to reproduce a logo. Staff will obtain pricing for public works to review at the next meeting. No final vote or contract modification was recorded at the committee meeting.
