The Planning and Zoning Commission briefly reviewed the updated short-term rental (Airbnb) ordinance and agreed to postpone detailed changes until after the subdivision ordinance is revised and returned to town council for a hearing.
The chair said there were no substantive changes since the last meeting and suggested the commission wait for the subdivision ordinance to be polished first. "We can just wait for the subdivision thing to get done, and then we can get this ready for its own public hearing and get that polished up too," the chair said, noting the zoning ordinance’s permitted-use table may need to be amended depending on which residential zones short-term rentals would be allowed within.
Commission members noted the short-term rental rules must align with the town’s zoning table (permitted uses by zone) and that if the commission decides to permit short-term rentals in a zone, the zoning table must explicitly list that use and the amendment must be dated. No formal edits or votes on the short-term rental draft were taken at the meeting; the commission prioritized finishing the subdivision ordinance first.
