The Twin Valley School Districttechnology committee recommended entering a one‑year renewal agreement for fiber‑optic Internet service with Chestnut covering July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026. Committee reporting said grant support will reduce the districts overall cost by about $23,000 and the motion to renew was approved by voice vote at the work session.
Committee members also outlined work on a long‑term technology plan that will address staff end‑user devices (life‑cycle management), student devices, network and application infrastructure, and staffing requirements. The committee asked district technology staff to draft and iterate the plan monthly before presenting a final version to the board.
On cybersecurity, district staff reported an ongoing rollout of multifactor authentication (MFA) districtwide that has reached roughly 50% deployment. Technology staff offered one‑on‑one support to board members before executive session so trustees can be prepared to use Microsoft Authenticator or equivalent MFA apps; staff also said MFA helps maintain the districts cybersecurity posture and insurance requirements. Board members asked for additional nonpublic technical details to be provided via board letter rather than in open session.
The committee did not report any unresolved procurement issues at this work session and recommended continued monthly review of the long‑term plan and MFA rollout progress.
