The Knox County Board voted May 28 to award the courthouse generator contract to MSI, the lowest bidder at $356,000, after receiving four public bids. Chair (speaker 2) said the Illinois grant to the 9th Judicial Circuit is funding the project and that the county has the necessary grant funds in hand.
"The lowest bid is MSI for 356,000," the chair stated during discussion. Officials noted a lead time of about 130 days and estimated full installation and operation by Jan. 1, 2026. The bid opening date and time were recorded in the packet as May 23 at 2 p.m.
Board members confirmed the procurement was publicly bid and that MSI had submitted the lowest responsive bid; one member recorded a dissenting vote during roll call but the motion passed. The chair said professional services and site design expenses will be billed and paid under the grant, and further coordination with the chief judge and administrative judge will follow.
The board approved the motion to accept the lowest bid by roll call at the meeting.
