Public commenters urge back-to-school support; speaker presents midyear economic snapshot

Ken Springer followed with a midyear regional economic update, reporting the Galesburg micropolitan area's unemployment rate at about 3.9% (below the statewide rate of 4.4%), a stabilized labor force near 20,700 for Knox and Warren counties after a long decline, and retail tax-receipt growth for 2025 of roughly 5.2% in Galesburg and 7.6% in Monmouth compared with 2024.
