Knox County commissioners approve contract payments, grant addenda and interagency early-intervention funding

Staff presented a ValuePoint participating addendum related to Verizon service that would change the county phone plan and produce monthly savings; commissioners moved and approved the addendum so staff (Kyle) could implement the change.
The county engineer requested payment number 2 to Law General Contracting for the Danville Amity Safety Improvement project in the amount of $531,243.70; the board approved the payment. An addendum to the ODOT local-public-agency (LPA) federal/local project agreement for pavement markings was presented to reflect increased grant funding; the addendum increases available federal funds by up to $130,000 and was approved.
The board approved a local interagency agreement regarding prevention services for children with disabilities (birth to age 5) involving Head Start, local schools and the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Separately, an interagency early-intervention service coordination agreement among the Department of Job and Family Services, the Family and Children First Council and the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities was approved; staff said the agreement carries a maximum value of $163,026 and is effective July 1 through June 30 (backdated).
Commissioners also reviewed and adopted a resolution to schedule county office closings for Christmas and New Year's (the resolution was prepared by Penny), entered bills and transfers into the record and noted month-to-date general fund revenue for August of $154,670.61. Staff reported continuing planning work on a sheriff's office evidence-storage conversion (construction expected from Modern Builders starting in early October pending readiness) and architectural/engineering progress on the Knox County Transit build-out plans.
