Knox County commissioners approve broadband permits, pavement‑marking bid notice and other routine items

At their Nov. 6 session, Knox County commissioners approved a package of routine administrative actions, including bid notices, permits and certifications related to county services and infrastructure.
The board approved pre‑advertisement for 2026 pavement‑marking bids and authorized the county certifications required by the Ohio Public Works Commission for Mishie Road resurfacing. Commissioners also approved several utility permits for Mercury Broadband (Butler Road in Pike Township; Saks Run Road and Peeler Mill Road in Brown Township; Satura Road in Brown Township) and a utility permit for Knox Energy Co on Apple Valley Drive in Howard Township.
Commissioner Jason noted that some townships are still awaiting broadband service and that permitting will help bring service to more areas. The board also approved an updated lease exhibit that defines a 6‑acre area for an Apple Valley Drive lease and authorized the county to sign Federal Transit Administration program certifications so a county employee (Bethany) can proceed with a grant application and funding.
Other items approved included a notice to solicit professional design services for a grid replacement project (statements of qualifications due Dec. 15, 2025) and administrative updates on building occupancy and opening plans. All listed motions were approved by voice vote during the meeting.
