EMS and BCTC partner on paramedic instruction; county renews ZOLL maintenance agreement

Mike Rogers, EMS director, told the Boyle County Fiscal Court that the ZOLL permanent maintenance agreement — an annual, budgeted contract that provides maintenance and certification for county cardiac-monitor equipment — is a routine renewal and remains a budgeted item.
Rogers also described a memorandum of agreement with Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC) for the county to provide hybrid paramedic instruction locally. He said the college handles administrative oversight while the county provides local instruction and that the program is expected to bring roughly $27,000 in revenue as it begins in August. Rogers and a BCTC-affiliated instructor (Moe) said one of their staff will serve as the adjunct instructor for the program.
The court confirmed county-attorney review of the agreement and approved the motion to enter the MOA, noting that the agreement will be renewed annually. Commissioners said the partnership could build a local workforce pipeline and that it’s an opportunity for EMS to recruit graduates.
Both items were approved by voice vote; Rogers said staff will ensure budget lines and revenue estimates are incorporated into next year’s budget.
