The council heard a detailed update on community emergency response efforts and a proposed evacuation plan from Melissa (S5), who has been coordinating the CERT program.
Melissa said she had met Jeremy Lake, the county emergency-response lead, who encouraged local CERT certification and recommended the town prepare an evacuation plan and keep a rotating supply of emergency water. "I have come up with what I feel like is a good emergency evacuation plan, and I could go over that with you guys if you'd like," Melissa said, and she recommended the recreation center as the main muster point with overflow at the LDS church and the senior center for people who need additional facilities.
Councilors discussed recruiting volunteers and involving the fire department for operational guidance; staff offered to put together letters and outreach, and the council encouraged the formation of a small committee to assist Melissa with the plan and CERT activities. The council did not take a formal vote but asked staff and interested volunteers to continue organizing the effort and to return with a more detailed implementation plan.
