Board hears site plan, schedule for new maintenance building at Landis Run campus

"We're proposing to put out to bid the site work associated with the project," the firm's presenter (introduced in the meeting as Mr. Gergley) told the school board, describing a fenced compound to consolidate storage and vehicles, a stormwater management facility to the north, and an added access lane intended to separate car drop‑off traffic from buses.
Gergley said the district intends to put site work out to bid on March 16, open bids on April 2 and present a recommendation to the board at its April 9 meeting. He said a notice to proceed would follow in April, the building pad could be ready by mid‑June, and site work would be completed in time for the start of the school year; the maintenance building itself would be substantially complete the following spring.
Board members pressed for clarity on day‑to‑day traffic management, signage and landscaping around what one member called the campus's "dirt pile." Gergley said there will be signage on the building, a landscaped site treatment and a fence around the maintenance compound. He also confirmed that JPD Architects will handle the building permit and the building bid separately from the site work.
The board's next steps are procedural: staff will follow the stated bid schedule and return to the board with a recommendation after bids are opened. No formal action was taken at the meeting on the maintenance building itself.
