At the Feb. 26 meeting, the Apple Valley City Council filled two advisory committee vacancies and welcomed new and promoted members of the police department.
Christina (city staff) explained the nomination and balloting process for advisory committees. The council moved through multiple rounds of voting for the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and adopted a resolution appointing Aaron Raab (appointed after balloting) and noted Erin Robb had received a majority in an earlier round of votes. For the Telecommunications Advisory Committee, the slate included Marcus Holsey, John Shute and Daniel Sullivan; Marcus Holsey received a majority and the council adopted a resolution appointing him.
Chief Nick Francis introduced Officer Matt Somogy, Sergeant Sarah Lisonbee and Lieutenant Adam (introduced in the meeting as Adam Cheetah), summarizing their backgrounds in law enforcement and community engagement. The new and promoted officers recited the oath of office and were congratulated by the council and attendees.
Council thanked outgoing committee members for their service and welcomed new appointees; the council adopted resolutions to formalize the appointments by voice vote.
