The Walla Walla County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 28 approved a hiring-freeze exception for a corrections officer and cleared routine payroll and consent-agenda items in a meeting attended by two commissioners.
Commissioner Clayton voiced that earlier confusion over the corrections hiring request had been resolved and moved to approve the hiring-freeze exception for a corrections-department corrections officer; the chair seconded and the motion passed 2-0 with one member absent.
Later, commissioners reviewed and approved submitted payroll action forms and other consent-agenda items as listed on the agenda; the motion to approve those items also carried on a 2-0 voice vote. The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn passed by the same margin.
Those votes represented standard board business; no public comments were recorded during the designated public-comment period and commissioners did not set additional follow-up deadlines for the hiring exception during the meeting.
