Milford board spotlights student artists, 'Eagle Experts' and state athletic qualifiers

The Milford Exempted Village Board of Education opened its March 21 meeting with a series of presentations celebrating student achievement in the arts, leadership and athletics.
Josh Kaufman, director of fine arts and extracurricular activities, introduced featured elementary artists and announced the district fine arts fair and a Fine Arts Senior Signing Day that will recognize seniors pursuing arts after graduation. Boyd Smith Elementary principal Mina Espie described the school’s Eagle Experts leadership program for grades 4–6 and highlighted service projects that included a Feed Our Flock food drive that collected more than 4,000 food items and $240 in donations.
Milford Junior High principal Misty Getz and staff celebrated students who advanced in the Great History Challenge national competition, noting that several students qualified for regional events and four will attend nationals in Chicago in late May.
Athletic director Aaron Zepka and coaches recognized 11 state swimming qualifiers (a school record for winter qualifiers), multiple state diving qualifiers and a state‑qualifying wrestler, Austin Holman, who reached a 111‑win career milestone. Coaches described the competitive field and congratulated students and staff for record achievements.
The board then moved to regular business; later in the meeting members approved consent items and voted on several contracts and construction change orders.
