Board preliminarily approves 2026–27 school calendar after discussion of earlier start date

The board asked how the change was developed; Westover said administrators and high-school department leaders provided feedback and the adjustment is similar to the 2025–26 schedule. Members raised minor formatting and exhibit-display issues — notably color coding on the calendar exhibits — and asked staff to double-check the published document before final release.
Committee member (board member) moved to preliminarily approve the calendar as presented (with the noted exhibit color check), a second followed, and President Jackson announced the motion carried 5–0.
The board did not finalize the calendar at this meeting; the vote recorded is for preliminary approval and staff will publish the corrected exhibits and follow any additional steps required for final adoption.
