The San Luis City Council approved an employment contract to appoint Jenny Torres as the permanent city manager after the council accepted a staff-recommended amendment increasing the severance period from three to six months.
Interim City Attorney Joe Estes asked that whoever moved the contract include a change to the severance provision, recommending the shift from a three-month to a six-month severance period. Council moved to approve the contract with that amendment and the motion carried by voice vote.
After the vote the presiding official welcomed Torres and thanked her for accepting the position. The council noted the prior three-year interim period and expressed commitment to avoid micromanaging day-to-day operations.
The decision followed an executive-session discussion and returned to open session for final action. Staff did not identify further conditions in the public discussion.
