First, the council adopted a resolution authorizing an agreement with Florida Power & Light Company to use Southwest Meadows Preserve as a temporary staging area for emergency restoration operations following mass power outages. Council members emphasized that FPL will be self-contained while on site and committed to returning the preserve to equal or better condition; residents expressed concerns about subcontractor performance and fueling operations, which the council flagged for attention.
Second, council approved a cooperative purchasing agreement with Tetra Tech, Inc., based on the City of Tamarac's contract, to provide disaster recovery management services. Staff said the cooperative contract will enable the town to accelerate procurement of disaster-management expertise when needed.
Council discussed potential park impacts and asked staff to ensure advisory‑board notification for park-related uses. The roll-call votes on both items approved the agreements unanimously.
