The board approved a not‑to‑exceed $12,950 agreement with Epic Engineers to provide a topographic survey for Curtis Elementary, with the district noting that differing site scopes explain price differences among surveys at other schools. Trustees asked staff to clarify why similar services cost more at some sites and were told the scope of work varies by location.
Trustees also approved a contract with NCA (not to exceed $401,598) for engineering and architecture services to design modular classroom spaces at Cortez, Kelly and Morris elementary schools, effective Oct. 9, 2025, through June 30, 2028, with funding coming from district general ELOP funds.
The board authorized a pilot agreement with The Sunbox Group LLC for a “Deep Type Experience” at Carter High School and Rialto High School, effective Oct. 8, 2025, through June 30, 2026, at a cost not to exceed $100,000 paid from general funds. Vice President Joseph Martinez asked whether the district had details about the software or hardware the vendor would use; staff said those specifics were not available at the time and would be provided later.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved an amendment with Miller Architecture to increase an existing contract (raising the amount from $69,000 by $24,600 to $93,600) to fund expanded architectural and engineering reviews tied to a new generator and related electrical improvements at a fueling/CNG station.
All motions were presented, seconded and approved by recorded roll call. The board’s votes were listed in the meeting minutes as unanimous for the items reported.
The approvals follow staff presentations on project scope, funding sources and intended uses; district officials said modular classrooms are primarily intended to support the after‑school ELOP program while remaining available for other uses when not in program service.
