A council member moved and the council approved a motion "to authorize the transfer of the amount not to exceed $30,000 from the unreserved, undesignated fund balance of the general fund, fund number 0100 to the Burrillville 250 commission revolving fund number 0250 for anticipated expenses related to planned events." Council members asked that finance staff account for fundraising and return any unused funds.
Council members discussed fundraising progress (about one quarter of the $20,000 fireworks target reported) and fundraising tactics (coin sales, business solicitations); the council approved the appropriation as a reserve to ensure events can proceed if outside revenue is insufficient.
