Veterans service director (speaker 2) presented multiple quotes and recommended an in‑stock 2023 Equinox as the lowest‑priced, immediately available option. Commissioners discussed operational use (out‑of‑town veteran appointments), volunteer-driver insurance coverage, vehicle sharing across departments and whether to retain or dispose of an older 2009 vehicle. The director said volunteer drivers are covered under the county’s insurance and that the vehicle would be calendared and managed by the veterans service office for scheduling and maintenance.
Commissioners agreed the vehicle would be available for other departments when not needed for veterans appointments. A motion to approve the purchase and fund it with ARPA passed by roll call with one dissenting vote; staff were directed to include funding source language in the resolution and to coordinate disposition of the older vehicle with the sheriff's office.
