New Grundy County administration building remains on schedule, officials say

Al McDonald, the county project lead for Grundy County’s new administration building, told the board on Jan. 13 the project remains on track under the original negotiated contract and is forecast to finish in 2026.
"We are on track within the original negotiated contract," McDonald said, outlining recent progress: exterior envelope secured, roof sealed, windows installed, interior slab and HVAC systems in place for rough testing, and underground wiring and parking-footprint work prepared. McDonald said no major material-cost escalations or utility delays (from NICOR or ComEd) are anticipated.
McDonald described next steps for the coming 30 days: wall layout and stud framing, millwork and mechanical/electrical/plumbing rough-ins, and coordination of low-voltage wiring with contracted vendors. He said the county intends to schedule department-head tours once framed walls are in place so staff can verify office layouts and outlet placement.
The project lead thanked Narvik Brothers, Simple Communications and local contractors for their work and described the project as largely seamless to date. Board members asked follow-up questions about schedule contingencies and promised to provide more regular updates as interior work accelerates.
