President Cunningham opened the Mission Fulfillment Committee meeting by reporting that several regents' homes were vandalized early that morning and calling the acts "illegal and frightening." She said the University unequivocally condemns vandalism, threatening behavior and acts of violence and is fully cooperating with law enforcement as it investigates.
Cunningham told regents she and University staff will continue to offer full support to affected regents and their families and said those who disagree with University decisions have lawful avenues to express their views. "The perpetrators of this vandalism directly threaten the safety of individual regents and erode the security of all," she said.
The committee did not take action on the matter at the meeting; Cunningham framed the remarks as an announcement and assurance of institutional support while the investigation is underway.
