Sunset Beach posts parking revenues; Main Street parking project out to bid

Town staff told the Sunset Beach council on July 14 that the Main Street parking project is out for bid and that engineered plans and a monthly revenue/expenditure chart are posted on the town website.
"The main Street parking project is out for bid now, and the bids are expected back on July 22. The council will consider awarding the contract during the August 4 meeting," staff said, and added that a notice to proceed would follow on Sept. 8 with anticipated completion Dec. 12 if the council moves forward.
Staff also summarized usage and revenue from the paid‑parking program. From program start through the reporting period staff said there have been 16,169 permits sold: 2,017 resident/property‑owner permits, 7,359 hourly passes, 5,443 day passes, 186 week passes and 1,164 year passes. For June staff reported net parking revenue of $6,068,467 in the packet and net revenue through July 13 of $336,453.
Council members and staff said the town will continue to update the parking FAQ and post the running revenue/expenditure chart on the website so residents can track the project. If the council awards the Main Street contract at the Aug. 4 meeting, staff said they plan a Sept. 8 notice to proceed and a Dec. 12 completion date.
