The chair told the board most revisions aligned with recent legislative changes as recommended by the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) and noted legal counsel's input on specific items. "We do have two new policies, for the use of AI and an opioid antagonist requirement, to be in [the] school system," the chair said when presenting the packet.
Board members moved and seconded the motion and approved the policies on first reading by voice vote. The transcript records that legal counsel's suggested language (noted as comments in the packet) was incorporated for at least one revised policy (attendance for nonresident students, policy 6.204).
Because the changes were taken on first reading, they are not yet final; the board followed its normal process for subsequent readings and formal adoption.
