The University of Minnesota Finance and Operations Committee approved its consent agenda in May, adopting several contracts, land transactions and employment appointments.
Executive Vice President Goldman summarized the items: a competitive RFP resulted in a contract with Mega Farms for up to $5,500,000 over five years to provide snow removal services on the Minneapolis campus; the university will accept a 27-acre transfer at Tamarack Lake in Victoria from Carver County at no cost to expand the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum; and the university will sell roughly 60 acres at Yumar Park in Rosemount to Northwinds Test LLC for $8,100,000 to advance an aerospace research partnership and market-based development. Goldman said the Yumar Park sale price is within appraised value and the transaction includes remediation obligations, grant funding support and a university escrow.
The consent report also included employment actions: the appointment of Dr. R. Kip Guy as dean of the College of Pharmacy on the Twin Cities campus, effective July 31; and the appointment of Michael Volna as vice president for finance and assistant chief financial officer, reflecting his 30 years of university service and expanded responsibilities.
A motion to approve the consent agenda was moved and seconded; the chair called for a voice vote. "All in favor?" the chair asked; the committee responded "Aye." The chair declared the motion passed. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
Goldman also noted additional informational items discussed separately, including plans to explore sale options for the Murphy Warehouse site and a technical correction to the Board nepotism policy review.
